GNL® Inspiring Stories

I want to thank so many of you for the messages of love, encouragement, and support following my post about overcoming both physical and mental health challenges — ultimately traced back to undiagnosed ADHD and low dopamine tone. Starting medication has transformed my life, and your feedback has meant the world.

What struck me most was how many of you said: “That’s my story, too.” Whether you were living it yourself, supporting a partner, or trying to make sense of someone else’s experience, your messages reminded me of something powerful: sometimes, just hearing that you’re not alone makes all the difference.

In my own journey, there were so many moments when I was barely holding on. A small message — a kind word, a “thinking of you,” or a simple “keep going” — was often what carried me through to the next day. And it was those next days that eventually led to the solution. Without those acts of connection, I’m not sure I would’ve made it.

So I’d like to offer an opportunity to pay that forward.

Introducing: Inspiring Stories

The Inspiring Stories (below) feature personal accounts from across the diabetes community — not just people with type 1 diabetes, but also:

  • Parents of children with type 1 diabetes
  • Partners and loved ones supporting someone with T1D
  • Healthcare professionals who’ve discovered meaningful strategies
  • Anyone with a story that could help others feel less alone

They focus on:

  • Mental health strategies that help you cope
  • Unique ways you manage diabetes day-to-day
  • Moments of challenge, breakthrough, or reflection
  • Things that might seem small, but could mean the world to someone else

Guidelines for Submission (if you want to share your story)

  • Write from the heart. Vulnerability is powerful — it invites connection.
  • Use real-life detail. Don’t worry about being polished — speak your truth.
  • Consider ChatGPT to enhance clarity. Write your first version, then ask ChatGPT (or another tool) to improve it for readability. Sometimes our stories don’t land because the message gets lost — AI can help bring out your voice without changing your essence.
  • Include images if you like. A photo can speak volumes.

Send your story in a Word document to [email protected]. Feel free to include your contact details, website, or social media — or keep it anonymous if you prefer.

Once submitted, I will format and publish below. I’ll let you know when it’s published and share it with the blog subscribers. If your story touches just one person, that might be the one person who needed it most.

Thank you again for being part of this community. Your stories, your presence, and your courage matter.
