About Me and Conflicts of Interest

The Glucose Never Lies® Podcast is created by John Pemberton and Chad — the Innovation Duo.

John is a diabetes dietitian, researcher, and storyteller who translates science into real-world education. Chad is the executor and producer, shaping John’s ideas into structured workflows, episodes, and promo packs. Together, they make complex diabetes science accessible, engaging, and empowering for people with type 1 diabetes and the professionals who support them..

Since being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2008, I’ve worn many hats: Diabetes Educator, Dietitian, Researcher, Lecturer. But my true passion has become content creation — The Glucose Never Lies®, The Glucose Never Lies® Podcast, and resources that help others navigate diabetes with clarity and confidence.

From the beginning, I invested heavily in learning everything I could about the condition — not just for my own health, but so I could translate that knowledge as a diabetes educator. Over the years, I’ve worked to bridge the gap between complex science and the realities of everyday life with diabetes.

The motivation to create The Glucose Never Lies® came from my son, Jude. He tested positive on a capillary screen for type 1 diabetes. In that moment, I wanted resources that were comprehensive, evidence-based, and practical — the kind of content I’d trust for my own family. But I couldn’t find them, despite working in type 1diabetes for 15 years! So I began creating them.

That’s how The Glucose Never Lies® started: first as a blog, then as a growing resource platform. A couple of months later, Jude’s blood test came back negative — but by then, the mission had already begun. With Jude still at risk, and my daughter Grace too, I had real skin in the game.

The platform became a way for me to learn, to teach, and to share. But my subsequent health journey added another layer. Alongside diabetes, I developed a functional motor disorder that spiralled into a major mental health crisis. In 2025, I was diagnosed with ADHD — a moment that reframed everything. That diagnosis gave me understanding, stability, and the tools to move forward.

From there, my work expanded. The Glucose Never Lies® has grown into a trusted space for evidence, stories, and practical insights. And more recently, I launched The Glucose Never Lies® Podcast to bring these conversations to life in a more personal way.

At its heart, everything I do comes back to one thing: making the science human, and giving people living with diabetes — and those who support them — clarity, confidence, and hope.

Conflicts of Interest

I have received payments from the following companies for speaking engagements, advisory boards, and consultancy work.

While I always strive to ensure my work is free from conscious bias, unconscious bias may influence my views, particularly due to my familiarity with certain products and the fact that these companies occasionally pay me pretty well.

I’ll leave it to you to decide!

  1. Hi John,
Do you offer any private dietetic services for people with T1DM using HCL?
    Best wishes,
    Laura

  2. Hi there!

Ever wonder if the habits we model today will echo in our kids’ lives tomorrow? As parents, we’re not just packing lunches—we’re shaping mindsets, attitudes, and futures. From choosing carrots over candy to managing screen time without meltdowns (ours or theirs!), the small choices add up in a big way.

I’m putting together an article that shares parent-friendly tips on helping kids build healthy habits they can carry into adulthood—with a dash of fun and a lot of heart. It’s all about creating a lifestyle, not just rules.

If this sounds like a good fit for your readers, I’d love to have it featured on your site. Let’s inspire families to grow strong, inside and out!

Thank you, and have a fantastic day!

P.S. Please let me know if you’re interested but would rather want an article on a different subject. I’ll be glad to comply! I write content that connects with people and is optimized for discoverability on today’s search engines and tomorrow’s AI platforms.
